About the project

Predators is a series of three A6 postcards (148 × 105 mm) built on pencil and ink wildlife drawings. Each one is devoted to a single predator and the reserve it inhabits.

The captions on the cards are in Belarusian and English — a deliberate choice, with no Russian and no Latin scientific names, so the series reads as local and contemporary.

Design decisions

Editorial divider

A vertical line splits the card into a text column on the left and the animal drawing on the right. Text never overlaps the drawing, and the line never crosses a text block — its position is tuned individually for each card.

Two typefaces

Oswald (species names, uppercase) and Manrope (everything else). Deliberately only two families — earlier drafts had more and it added noise.

Location pin

An outlined marker before the reserve name underlines that this is a specific place, not an abstract view.

Format & print

A6 landscape, 148 × 105 mm. Print-ready files with 3 mm bleed and crop marks.

How it was made

  1. Extracting the drawings from the artist's original PSD files.

  2. Separating the drawings from the white background (luminance mapped to transparency) so the pencil texture is kept without halos.

  3. Extracting the studio's logo from the mock-up.

  4. Over 10 layout variants per animal — the “Editorial divider” was chosen from them.

  5. Assembling the master layouts in Figma and exporting editable SVGs.

  6. Prepress: a PDF with 3 mm bleed and crop marks.

What was delivered

  • 3 postcard fronts (A6, print-ready)
  • 3 backs with a QR code to the studio's YouTube channel
  • Print PDF: 6 pages, 154 × 111 mm (A6 + 3 mm bleed), crop marks
  • Editable sources for Figma (text as live layers, not outlines)
  • HTML gallery of the series
